SPECIAL HOLY WEEK SERVICES

Christ Lutheran Vail will be having a special Maundy Thursday service with communion April 2, 6:00pm at the Ministry Center. There will also be two Good Friday Services held at the Ministry Center, April 3; one at 12:00 noon and the other at 6:00pm. Please join us for a Sunrise Easter Service at 6:00am, April 5th, at the Ministry Center. This special service will be followed by a special Easter Breakfast. We will still have regular Easter services at 9:00am at Cienega H.S.
 

Easter Egg Hunt

EASTER EGG HUNT!!!

There will be an Easter Egg Hunt on Easter Sunday, April 5th following 9:00 am service at Cienega H.S. Dining Auditorium. Remember to bring a basket. We will havesome baskets available for those who have forgotten.

 

First Communion Class

FIRST COMMUNION CLASS

Pastor Hook will be starting a First Communion Class to be held on Sunday mornings at 10:30 am at Cienega H.S. This four week class will start Sunday, March 22 and continue Sunday, April 19, 26, and May 10th. This class will be geared for fifth graders but is available for anyone interested in learning more about this Holy Sacrament. Parents are encouraged to join. If you are in need of immediate, emergency prayer, please call 283-6186 and leave a message for Tiffany Krieger. Tiffany will then initiate a call to the prayer warriors that make up the prayer chain at Christ Lutheran Vail. You can also leave a message anytime at 468-7075 and the message will get to Pastor Hook and start the prayer chain.

New Database

NEW DIRECTORIES

The transition to the new database at Christ Lutheran Vail IS COMPLETE!!! There are new directories available at the Welcome table. You will be able to update your own personal profile and contact information in the database. You can simply go to christlutheranvail.bvms.com and request a password. This is only possible for individuals already in the database with a current email. If we do not have a current email address for you, please fill that out on the Connection Card and place it in the offering basket. In the future, CLV would like to send anniversary and birthday wishes. But this can only happen if we have correct dates so please help us update your information. We are so excited about the future possibilities with this database
 

Food and Toiletry Drive

GRACIAS! DANKE! MERCI! KIITOS! TAKK! MAHALO! MANY, MANY THANKS

Thank you CLV for your very generous support of the Food & Toiletry Drive organized by the Confirmation youth group. Thank you also to Thrivent for a $250 grant to purchase items for the project. The youth tallied the collected items on Wednesday and here is a small sampling of the numbers: 160 cartons of drinks; 52 mini cereal boxes; 226 packages of crackers; 77 ramen packages; 121 cans of pasta and chili; 136 rolls of toilet paper; 33 toothbrushes; 57 soap bars; and 124 body soaps and shampoos. Overall, there were more than 900 food items donated and over 450 toiletry items donated. Wow! We can’t say it enough - Thank you!!

Christmas Program

CHRISTMAS PROGRAM PRACTICE

Starting Sunday, November 16th the practice for the Christ Lutheran Vail Christmas program will be at 10:15am in between the two services in the band room at Cienega H.S. For more information contact Kiki Ngo at 404-5639. Sunday School will be combined with the program practice. Please plan on having your children attend and participate in this year’s Christmas Program.

There will be one service on Sunday, October 19th starting at 10:00am with our Consecration Sunday Celebration Brunch immediately following. Please be sure to attend this important event in the life of our church.
 

Ministry Fair

MINISTRY FAIR SUNDAY OCT. 12TH!!!

Christ Lutheran Vail needs you!!! This will be the day for you to learn more about all the ministries happening at CLV and get more involved. Our theme this year is from Matthew West’s song “Do Something.” The Ministry Fair will be in between the 9 am and 11:15 am services at Cienega. Please plan on staying for brunch, perusing the ministry displays and talking to the ministry leaders. Find the ministries that speak to your interests and talents and join them!!!

11:15 AM SERVICE MOVING!!!

Starting Sunday, October 5th, the 11:15am Worship service for Christ Lutheran Vail will be at Cienega High School Dining Auditorium. The 9:00 Worship Service and Sunday School will not be effected by this move. Be sure to mark your calendar.
 

Prayer Adult class

NEW ADULT CLASS STARTING

As part of Wednesday Nite Live (WNL) There will be an adult Bible study class from 4-6pm every Wednesday starting August 20th.  Kathy Kuhlman will be teaching the Lifelight class on Prayer.  Materials will soon be available to purchase for $9.  To sign-up or get more information visit the back table after church or contact Kathy Kuhlman at (325-5225).

Wednesday Nite Live

WEDNESDAY NITE LIVE

Christ Lutheran Vail will again be offering an opportunity for families to worship, have fellowship and study the Word on Wednesday nights.  All ages are invited to attend starting Wednesday, August 20th.  At 6:00pm there will be a Chapel service with praise and worship and communion.  Then at 6:30pm, age defined groups will move into separate rooms to start their faith enriching activities. Age groups will include birth to 1st grade, second thru fifth grade, Confirmation, Senor High Youth Group and adult Bible study.

Reception Volunteers

RECEPTION VOLUNTEERS WANTED

CLV is looking for volunteers to serve in the reception area Monday through Friday from 2:30-3:30pm.  If you are friendly, like to take phone calls, give and receive information then this is the right job for you!!!  Appropriate training will be provided to ensure you feel as comfortable as possible with your tasks.  If this sounds like fun to you please contact Jennifer Fishencord at jfish@christlutheranvail.org or call 468-7075.  Coverage will start Friday, August 1st.

Hands and Feet

BE THE HANDS AND FEET

Are you a good cook?  Have a reliable car and flexible schedule to help drive someone to appointments? Know your way around a tool box? Able to care for pets with ease?  All of these skills and many more could help our congregation members in a time of need. This ministry focuses on caring for each other in our CLV church family as an extension of the Emergency Prayer Chain and the Care Ministry.  To get involved, there will be sign-ups at the back of church on Sunday or contact Tiffany Krieger at 203-8527.

 

Stephen Ministry Training

STEPHEN MINISTRY TRAINING

We will begin a training session for those interested in becoming Stephen Ministers in September.  Upon completion, we ask for a two year commitment.  Our current group will have served for two years in November. Seven or eight have committed to continue.  Stephen Ministers work on a one-to-one basis with care receivers. We promise confidentiality in these relationships, so we do not appeal highly visible, but we always have 4-5 ongoing relationships.  If you are interested, please call Larry Unger at 664-0310.

Prayer Walk Work Days

PRAYER WALK WORK DAYS

On Friday and Saturday, July 11 and 12th we are in need of as many volunteers as we can get to complete the Prayer Walk at Christ Lutheran Vail Ministry Center.  We will start at 5:00am each day to lay rock border and trim and clean up the prayer stations.  Also, if you have any wheelbarrows, shovels, rakes, tree trimmers, chainsaws, or anything else that you might think we need to complete the prayer path that we could borrow, it would be very helpful as well.  Tailgating will provide a chicken meal on Saturday for all those who work on that day.  If you could please let us know as soon as you can if you can help out, it would be greatly appreciated.  You can contact Ryan Alterman at MAlterman@cox.net or call 520-762-9855.

Dementia Group

DEMENTIA CAREGIVERS SUPPORT GROUP

We all know someone who has dementia, and we know how hard it is for those who live with it day after day.  But we don’t have to face this disease alone. Christ Lutheran Vail Church is proud to sponsor Vail’s first Dementia Caregivers Support Group.  There is no cost to attend and no commitment to come back (although we hope folks will).  Our first meeting will be on Monday, June 9th from 3-4pm at the Ministry Center and will focus on becoming more knowledgeable about Dementia and Alzheimer’s.  We will then continue our support group meetings on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month.  Support groups provide a forum to share feelings, concerns, and information and as a way of supporting and encouraging each other.
